breakbeatcode Hackathon

Learn how to create music with code with Supernatural, the GOAT of freestyle hip hop!

April 12th 10am - 2pm ET

A breakbeatcode Hackathon is a free, online, half-day virtual event co-hosted by our breakbeatcode team and our partner organizations. During the Hackathon, tech coach volunteers from Google will provide an introduction to the breakbeatcode curriculum. No prior coding knowledge or experience is required. By the end of the hackathon, students will have started to build a foundation in coding skills and music theory, and they will have published their first music tracks. After the event, we will have a closing party where a professional DJ will remix the music the students have created in a live set.

“Thank you to all the coaches, contributors, volunteers and everyone at Google and the artists who contributed to the Orphaned Starfish Hackathon. You all changed lives; you all made a difference. Thank you to you all for inspiring me and so many others. I cannot wait to see what these students will create in the future and how many other students we can reach.

How do we do it?

We build partnerships with organizations that focus on underserved communities. Organizations like Orphaned Starfish.

Orphan Starfish serves over 15,000 children in 29 countries worldwide.  Their students are orphans who have been rescued from the worst possible situations, often human trafficking.

Their success is inspiring. Over 90% of their graduates attain positive outcomes, including attending university and full time employment.

This is an amazing organization, and a perfect example of a breakbeatcode partner.

In February this year, we co-hosted our first breakbeatcode virtual hackathon with 35 students from Jamaica, Haiti and Indigenous communities in the U.S.
