create music with code using EarSketch, a free educational programming environment developed first at Georgia Tech.
make beats with AI using MusicFX is powered by Google's MusicLM.
compete for a PS5 or Nintendo Switch!

BreakBeatCode Hackathon
The BreakBeatCode Hackathon is a free, livestreamed event now available on demand (originally aired on Sunday November 10th) featuring special guest star Supernatural, the GOAT of freestyle hip hop. Students ages 9 and up will learn how to create music with code. No prior coding or music experience required. Students will create their first remixes with code in less than 1 hour, and Supernatural will freestyle over the winning beats in a live performance.
4 lucky winners will go home with a Nintendo Switch or a PS5!
For Teachers
Host a BreakBeatCode Hackathon Watch Party
For teachers joining the event with your students in your classroom, no coding or music experience is required for you or your students.
You will need:
a stable internet connection
a projector with a connected speaker
laptops for each student (mobile phones and tablets are not supported by the platform)
ideally headphones (or it will get really noisy when they start making beats with code!)
For Students
Join the BreakBeatCode Hackathon from Home
For students attending the event alone, no coding or music experience is required. You will need a stable internet connection, a laptop (mobile phones and tablets are not supported by the platform), and headphones. Students who participate in the event and share their work will have a chance to win prizes for Best New for first time participants or Best Returning Artist-Engineer for participants from prior Hackathons.
